In the Garden Embarks On First Summer Nature Walk
In the Garden will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at the Edna W. Spurgeon Woodland Reserve, 9478 N 600 W, Ligonier. Those interested in the natural world are invited to attend this nature walk.
The Edna W. Spurgeon reserve — the first ACRES Land Trust property — features low ridges or kames left by glaciers and cut by glacial meltwater. Walkers will explore the young forest before entering a mature forest of beech, sugar maple and tulip trees. The walk will be along a dirt trail that may feature rough patches.
Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for a trail hike and to bring insect repellent. This walk is weather-dependent. Watch the library’s social media pages for any cancellations.

Teens Can Learn New Languages

Cox will have resources for Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese and French, but can provide resources for other languages if asked. Teens are encouraged to bring their electronic devices to use one of the Syracuse Public Library’s online resources: INSPIRE, which connects to Rosetta Stone. The Rosalyn Jones Room does offer two computers, too.
